Reverend Nathanel Heyward Sr. above all firstly wants folks to know, that he is a proud father of five loving and reasonably mannered children. He was born and raised in the town of Burton, South Carolina. He received his early education at the Robert Small High School in Beaufort, South Carolina. Upon graduation from High School, he served three years in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged as a Vietnam Veteran in 1966. Upon separation from the military, he rolocated to N.Y.C. and continued his education. He is married to Mrs. Lela M. Williams of Charlestown, South Carolina.

Just before graduating City College at age thirty, he received Christ as his personal Savior. He subsequently enlisted in the service of the Lord at the Tried Stone Baptist Church 1974, under the pastorate of Rev. D. Nickerson. God later blessed him to attain a B.A. in Political Science from City College and a Master of Professional Studies from the N.Y. Theological Seminary while working full time as a supervisor with the N.Y.C. Transit Authority.

He was a founding member of the Bronx Black Forum of the Bronx New York in 1976. He served as a board member of the Council of Church of the City of New York and Vicinity from 1976 to 1978. He was a member of Community Planning Board #3 in the Bronx, N.Y. from 1976 to 1978. And, he served as president of the Bronx Branch of the NAACP from 1976 to 1978.

Reverend Heyward served as:

- Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Morrisania, Bronx, N.Y. 1992 to 1999.

Upon retirement from N.Y.C. Transit in the year 1995, he returned to N.Y. Theological Seminary and acquired his Masters of Divinity degree. The preacher often times speaks of himself as a professional student. And, he takes pride in telling folks, that of all his degrees the one that he cherishes most is the B.A.C ... Born Again Christian. He is a spirit filled and spirit led gospel preacher, who doesn't mind letting God use him as God so chooses. He comes with a vision to increase the Clinton Memorial AME Zion Church's territory by evangelizing the 13 villages and town of Southold, N.Y. and Vicinity.
